Shaggy's
Platinum Party Shaggy's album launch / charity concert / platinum party
was a resounding success! James Bond Beach was the perfect venue for the
occasion. Shaggy's performance was awesome - as usual. Here's our take
on the party...
MIC:
Is who seh Lady Saw perform?! She wasn't even there
TRU: That may have been some miscommunication.
I thought so too. As a matter of fact I even thought she did the counteraction
for "It wasn't me". I am so late. Who sings that anyway?
MIC: Her name is Marsha. She come from Portmore.
Robert Livingston just signed her to Big Yard (Shaggy's label) which is
now signed to MCA. Big tings!
TRU:
James Bond Beach did hype, don't it?
MIC: Yes very spacious. Intec did a wicked
job with the lighting but Grizzly's sound did flop big time! Yuh didn't
hear 'dat only the monitor speakers were on during "Why Me Lord" and "Hope"?
TRU: Nope...didn't know that. Wasn't even
pennyin' 'dat still.
MIC: Well I was on stage and I was kinda
embarrassed for Shaggy but the crowd was lovin' it same way.
TRU:
Baby Cham did tough eeh? Not to mention Bounty! Dem did tear down di place.
That was the best part of the show...in my opinion
MIC: Yes, apparently. I had to edit out half
of the tape because of your screaming!
TRU: Yuh done know! I have to give them props...love
those niggaz!
MIC:
How cool was the rendition of "Another Level"? To see Bounty, Cham,
Rayvon, Shaggy, and Brian and Tony Gold all together was to quote Bounty
" a historical moment". I need to mention that Brian and Tony were fully
born to do this... born stars.
TRU: No doubt...from long time.
MIC: Gotta talk to them about doing the featured
artist section. All Rayvon too. Him sweet eeeh?
TRU: I guess
MIC:
Shaggy is such an awesome performer. I feel blessed to have him as our
featured artist. I am glad that he is where he is right now. And I was
glad to see that Italee ...ummm...Rude...completely and utterly tore down
the house with her performance.
TRU: She was great. I had no idea she has
such a commanding stage presence. Very wicked. Her performance was flawless-
like she buss from long time. I hope she does well. MIC:
I feel she most certainly will
TRU:
Shaggy certainly has a lot of fans bwoy!
MIC: Yeah, one question though... How DO
all dem gyal deh get backstage? Man, I saw some chicks bawlin' back there
just meet di big man!
TRU: A lie?! Wachere... mi neva know she
Jamaican people behave so. I thought 'dem kinda antics were reserved for
the Backstreet Boys and N'sync dem! (Laughs)
MIC: Well goes to show how big Shaggy is.
Big up, Big up!
TRU: What a bunch of wagonists!
MIC: Iz all good though!
TRU:
Well, I think the show was worth the long ass drive...weh yuh seh?
MIC: Yeah the show was very well put together
but why local artists haffi come bungle up pon the stage at every big
concert? It shows a complete lack of professionalism. I didn't even stick
around for it.
TRU: That sh!t always happens without fail.
Everybody wants to grab the mic.
MIC: And at the same time, nuff nuff artists
playa hate on Shaggy because of his success! I won't call any names but
maybe that's one of the reasons why dancehall don't reach the level it
could be at.
TRU: Is jus a reflection of Jamaica on a
whole still- in terms of disorganization.
MIC: But anyway, we'll make that a topic
of discussion on the message board soon.
TRU:
Good idea. I guess we should stop here. All in all it was great. I am
really curious to know if anyone will be able to break Shaggy's records
any time soon. Time will tell.
MIC:
Yup. One!
TRU: Peace!
