I can describe
Pip n'Ting in three words:
OFF DA HOOK.
At first I was a bit turned off by the annoying trek in my stilettos to
the house through the high wet grass used as a parking lot. However after
paying $200 less than the regular cover charge (because the lady at the
gate obviously thought I looked "Hawaiian" enough), I was ready to shake
my a$s to the sounds of Boyd, Dre, and Marvin who did not disappoint.
The crowd was a good mix and everyone on the dance floor was actually
dancing.
The 2 for 1 Appleton special did not go unnoticed (trus mi), as well as
their attempt to maintain the whole Hawaiian theme with little umbrellas
in the drinks and all.
What was with the smoke machine though? I
felt like I was about to suffocate at one point, but as the night progressed
the amount of smoke diminished- Thank God!
Temple Hall is definitely synonymous with Pip n' Ting and I'm really glad
that they decided to return to this venue. It was a welcome change from
Pip n' Ting December which was held at Grovesnor Gallery (wrong move),
too small a location for such a highly publicized party. They made up
for it this time around and will no doubt see me at their next theme party.
