from Panic & The Rebel Emergency's Album Launch in Toronto,
June 29th
Like anything that is truly unique the music of Panic & the
Rebel Emergency is at first listen difficult to place. It does
not fit neatly into a mold, but neither do the members of this
innovative new band. Their improbable beginnings as a group help
explain their singular style of music.
While looking
for a studio to record an alternative rock demo, the band Rebel
Emergency; RoddySoul, Geoff, Bucci, AdamH, and Evan who all hail
from Toronto, Canada; were referred to a studio in the Bronx where
Panic was working as an artist, producer and engineer.

Late
one night during Rebel Emergency’s first recording session, Panic
who was also working on completing his own solo reggae oriented project,
rushed to what he described as “the sound I’d been searching
for” coming from the booth. Despite being taken aback by having
their session interrupted, they were automatically taken in by Panic’s
magnetic personality and approach to music. After what they all describe
as “five minutes of raw vibe”, they had produced a rough
version of their first song, “I Wanna Know.”
Since that time
they have teamed with acclaimed Grammy award winning producer and engineer
Gordon “Commissioner” Williams (who has worked on The Miseducation
of Lauryn Hill and The Bob Marley Tribute Album among others) to help
them create the perfect balance between RoddySoul’s passionate
singing, Panic’s captivating charisma, and the band’s brilliant
backing.
The members of the band are convinced that they are fulfilling some
sort of destiny. Their chance meeting at the Bronx studio and their
instant musical creativity has spawned a truly special mix of Rock and
Reggae culture that shines through not only in their music, but also
in their everyday lives.
After receiving
offers from several major labels, Panic & the Rebel Emergency have
to decided to team up with the great people at independent label Trakk
Factory Entertainment (TrakkFactory.com) for their debut album. In the
process they are not only looking to further their own careers solely
as a band, but they also have begun to put time in the studio as songwriters
and producers for artists such as Yami Bolo, Vybz Kartel, Wayne Wonder,
Maxi Priest, Wyclef, and Bounty Killer to name a few. The partnership
of Trakk Factory and Panic & the Rebel Emergency has been an integral
part of the band’s progress thus far and they are looking not
just to make hit records, but also spearhead a distinctive stylistic
movement within the already burgeoning dancehall reggae movement.
