would you do (careerwise) if you weren't a deejay? I'm sure I would be some computer whiz, or a lawyer, trying to help out people or some type of prosecutor. I like to address an audience… I like to talk and like to bring points across and I like to hold people to their points. Favourite food? Brown stew chicken Favourite colour? Black Favourite drink? Fruit punch, champagne soda Favourite clothing brand? Mi nuh buy brand mi buy weh mi like…weh look good. The quality of the clothes is what I look at. Do you ever wear sneakers? Yeah. I wore sneakers back in the day but I am tired of dem now…sneakers too popular. When you buy yuh nice sneakers and go on stage and yuh see some guy in the front of the stage jumping up in it and yuh have on your nice sneakers that you love and cherish and you don't even wanna wear it too much and you see some regular guy beatin' it...that's not nice! So I mek sure buy some shoes that's not popular. Where's the weirdest place you ever performed? Italy…about 200 people at the show an' a 2 black man in di audience! That was ridiculous because reggae, hard core dancehall is mostly black people follow it. But at the same time it was exceptional because it felt good to know I actually had a straight white audience. Are you still actively involved in Seaview? No sah mi lef Seaview long time . Seaview people try kill me off so mi nuh business wid dem again Artistically, what would you consider your strength? My words, lyrics. I know how to get my message across to the people and use words that are meaningful. I like to rhyme but I check rhyme and reason. Rhyme without reason is crap. Most difficult stage performance? I have never had a hard audience because there is always a song in my catalogue that can move the audience…I have had problems with the p.a. system (though)…like one time inna Miami we did have problems with the system…when dem seh dem box Bounty Killer...but dem did box Johnny Wonder and X- News' dutty Yasmine Peru go pon newspaper and seh she get unconfirmed report dat Bounty Killer haffi fled outta Miami airport. How yuh fi publish unconfirm report?! You reputable reporter a state unconfirm report bout celebrity superstar, supposed mi sen' mi gunman fren dem come shot yuh inna yuh face? How does it feel to be a true representative of Jamaican dancehall and not receive the accolades or awards internationally (like a Grammy, etc.)? I'm getting my rewards. When I charge I get paid (laughs) so I'm all right. I'm not worried about awards…dem award deh cyaan feed yuh pickney…yuh cyaan sell dem…Grammys also put a lot of eyes on you, a lot of demands. If you win a Grammy this year and you're not even nominated next year is an embarassment! They don't have to recognize what I do…the people do and they reward me every day. When I have my shows they are sold out and that's a good reward.
