He has done
a guest spot on Fame FM with "the big guy" Boyd and Delano's Revenge
VI in November last year was renamed by many as "Khaled's
Attack". He said that when his turn came
to play, the people came up to the stage. I know for sure that
when his turn was done, half the crowd left! After the annual
event Fully Loaded three years ago, Khaled has become a mainstay
on that same show every year since, and will continue to be for
years to come I'm sure. Sharon Burke, the creator of Fully Loaded,
and head of booking agency Solid Agency, takes care of The Arab's
booking locally in Jamaica, the rest of the Caribbean and partly
in the States....
The interview was interrupted by one of Khaled's cell phones
ringing...
It was Jabba of the dj duo Bobby Konders & Jabba inquiring about
a flex to be made later that night. Khaled dropped a few names
in the process including Fat Joe and Ja Rule. (Fat Joe is a role
model of his).
It reminded me to ask him about a Big
Pun Tribute that he played at the AT&T Centre in
Miami a couple years ago. I had heard that when all the artists
came up one by one, they paid homage to Pun, then proceeded to
big up The Arab - nuff. His voice dropped a decible or two when
he spoke about it. He remembers there was about 5,000 strong attending
that concert, and one that will take precedence over many others.
So all y'all
that might not know the level that DJ Khaled has reached - ya
betta know now. He plays on famed radio station 99 JAMS in Miami
during Friday night prime time 10-midnight, and he's
preparing to take over completely by the end of
this year by dropping his debut mix album featuring Bounty
Killer, Buju Banton, Sean Paul w/ KRS-One, Black Rob, Fat Joe,
Crazy Bone from Bone Thugs, Wu-Tang and much more.
