WHAT'S
MY NAME?
"Jeffery
Duane Nicolas Eduardo Hezekiah Percival St. Francis Oriental Ronimus
Deuronimus Pythagoras Alouicious Campbell," is
his name, he says smiling.
We
told you this guy had jokes. Seriously though, born
Jeffery Campbell, Assassin is on a mission. While releasing
an album is not his most pressing concern (at the moment), he
is focussing on the task of heavily promoting his name through
public appearances, laying tracks with other established artists,
releasing 45's, and the like.
BIG
TINGS
"Bounty
Killa a my deejay!"
Assassin says enthusiastically, along with Spragga
Benz, and Buju Banton
(before his conversion to Rastafarianism, i.e. Batty Rider days).
These artists have had a great influence on his career. He considers
Spragga Benz his mentor having met the deejay many years ago when
he used to hang out in Dunkirk's Red
Square. Assassin penned Spragga's "Big
up all di Shotta dem" and the two released a single,
"Smear", a few years
ago.
With
more plans to collaborate with Benz in the future Assassin
knows that he has been blessed- more fortunate than other young
artists who may not have the opportunities to make alliances with
heavy hitters so early in the game. He
has also worked with Buju Banton & Kimani Marley. He
even made his acting debut earlier this year alongside Spragga
Benz in Shottas where he played the role of Blacka, the deejay's
younger brother. He responds to the question as to whether he'd
act again, "If it comes along. But,
deejaying is my ting. I leave the acting for the actors!"
