The Entertainer

Moses and Quizz.. aaaww eh? wwweeeeellllll....

Hanging out with Moses Davis a.k.a. Beenie Man et al, at the reknowned studios of Shocking Vibes off Constant Spring Road in Kingston, Jamaica, is always a dear pleasure.

In my humble opinion, Beenie Man is easily the most professional recording artist on the island - always making time for press, always smiling brightly, always playing the part he was born to play - that of The Entertainer. I have witnessed Beenie Man several times having been in compromising or disheartening situations (for example, only days after his friend and road manager, Paul Tyrell was murdered in cold blood), never yet refusing an interview on camera for the sake of representing himself as the Beenie Man everybody knows and loves.

L. Boogie and I headed to Shocking Vibes to catch up with Moses and learn of his latest accomplishments and career highlights since his near-fatal accident in January, and on the flipside, the banging success of the first single off his upcoming album Back To Basics, the Dude Remix which has blown up on Billboard, MTV and BET.

If you are somehow unable to listen to the w?rap up, here's the break-down in point form:- Dangazone is booking and managing Beenie Man in Florida.
- 357 is a company directed by Beenie Man and producer Mario C. which manages Kiddie's Room, a studio/label which the hot Skubay riddim (built by Mario C.) is on.
- Back To Basics is dropping July 13th and is STRICTLY dancehall.

- Beenie Man is also involved in a label alongside Auto Whale called Free Willy, producing and managing.
- Virgin Records is promoting Beenie Man and his upcoming album and promoting them well.

- The second single off his upcoming album Back To Basics, "King of the Dancehall"'s video was filmed in NY last weekend. No, I didn;t go cuz I had shit doing *scowl*
- Beenie Man has just started building a "camp" for the kids to hang out at in Craig Town.
- He says he was healed by the Almighty after his car accident in January and is doing 550% better.

We spoke to John Hype (Shocking Vibes' dancing King) a bit who was in the building and caught Patrick Roberts (the big man at Shocking Vibes) in between meetings and other than hanging out for a bit, that's about it... catch the Full Hundred in the audio above, and w?rappin' below. If there is anything you want to know about Beenie Man or any other artist, e-mail me at quizz@whaddat.com and just let me know.

Respec' Moses.
