On
the set of Anthony B's "Lighter" video feat. Bone Crusher
& Wyclef Date: Monday, December
12th - 14th, 2003
Venue: South Beach, Miami
If
you don't know who Anthony B. is now, you will this year. Fi real,
fi real.
In the nineties, Anthony B. hit us with'Fire
Pon Rome' and
and 'Raid di Barn'.
In the past couple of years he's laced us with 'Good
Cop' and
'Mr. Heartless' which
is playing now if you haven't shut it off.
That's
all good, trus' mi, but Anthony B. under the guidance of Togetherness
Records, is set to BLOW in 2004. If you've seen
the new video on RETV, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Crossover
is the operative word here.
If you haven't seen the "Someone
Loves You" video, lemme break it down
for ya. Anthony B, a devout Rasta, is blazin' around Miami Beach
on a custom painted red, green and gold Harley with a brownin'
on the back, en route to a big rass yacht that he alights to be
served champagne and bun Cohibas.
It didn't
surprise me one bit, since I saw it AFTER coming off the set of
his latest video - Lighter
- featuring Wyclef and Bone Crusher.
Yeh, Bone Crusher. Imagine dat. Me and Tyson from RETV
('memba dem get 2 in 1 with me... Whaddat/RE), Mystique from ZIP,
Yvette Rowe and Howie from TVJ
(reppin' ER) and
Elise Kelly from Irie FM
were the elite members of the J'can media, hand picked by Togetherness
Records to be present at this shoot. They put us up in The
Shore Club hotel, ok? One tip toppa top top
hotel on South Beach. Mi nah lie. Dem deal wid us very nice. All
Nya and Kolongi!!
Prime chaperones. Respec'! Anthony B. is
in very good hands.
So on the
first day, I was Whaddat Cam-less, workin' hard with RE, so no
shots of Wyclef,
who was on a very tight schedule and could only be present for
a few hours in the middle of the night on the Friday (Sat'day
mawnin). But it went well and he was out. I
would explain what went down on set, but oonu jus' haffi wait
and see the video. The producers never bus' exactly what
the budget was but it was in the region of half
a mill U$, seen? Aright. Nuff said.
It was directed
by the big man Don Allan
outta Toronto (he was backed by the 1st AD, Kellie
JoTackett), executive produ$ed by Steve
Gagnon and Phil
Barone of Gravity Ent., creatively directed by
Jerry Blohm and
headed by the big man Chris Kerr
from none other than Togetherness
Records. Haffi give props
where props is due (big up the top producer Blunt
as well), but apart from that, there's not much more I can say
other than... Lighta! Mi wan' see
some lighta! Ring the alaaarm, another thug is dying!! wo-OH yeh!
Look
out for it. Blesssss

Anthony B, known for his potent lyrics, will early this
year release his latest CD entitled Untouchable, a compilation
featuring top foreign acts, including Wyclef Jean and local
songstress Aisha.
The
first single from the CD, Someone Loves You, featuring Aisha,
had its music video world premier on BET recently and is
currently being aired on MTV.
Next
in line to be released from the album is Lighter, a track
featuring Wyclef Jean and Bone Crusher, producers Togetherness
Records told the Observer.
A
music video for this release was recently shot in Miami, Florida, and
is scheduled to have its premier in January, the producers reported.
"There
has been a lot of interest about the album both from overseas and locally
and the response from the first single has been positive," Lorna
Kelly of Togetherness Records said.
While
not complete, other songs on the album include Girls, the title track
Untouchable, Soldiers featuring Wyclef Jean, and Who is Gonna Help with
King Dove... from
