BASS
ODYSSEY
TOOK WORLD CLASH 2001 IN NEW
YORK October 6th.
This
according to Wayne Marshall who was present alongside
host Bounty Killer at Club Amazura for the world reknowned
annual clash. Defending champions
Killamanjaro were
a no-show, which left Bass
Odyssey, Japan's Mighty Crown,
King Tubbys, Black Kat & Poison
Dart to vye for the prestigious title of World Clash Champions.
Although many patrons will argue that Mighty Crown
deserved the victory, Bounty
declared
Squingy
and the crew the winners.
WORLD
CLASH 2001 VOX POP
This is Shockwave from the sound Jah Mafia from Brooklyn.
I was at World Clash 2001 and witnessed it live, when Bass
Odyssey left with the trophies. I believe that Mighty Crown
won. Bounty asked the crowd many times who won and the crowd
had people for Bass Odyssey and many people were screaming
for Mighty Crown also. Bounty [said] who wins is the sound
who plays the best throughout the whole clash. To me it was
Mighty Crown because they got the biggest forwards for the
night with the Fabolous and Beenie Man and the soca tune.
But
Bass Odyssey won the second dub fi dub when 5 tunes was played.
So when Killer added up the points Bass Odyssey was ahead
and Bounty couldn't get a straight decision since people we
cheering for both sounds. So he used the score-sheet and said
Bass Odyssey won. They played wicked and mashed up the 45's
round. King Tubbys got boooed they shouldn't have even came.
Poison Dart played wicked and had big tunes however the crowd
wasn't feeling them the third round. Black Kat played wicked
but in the dub fi dub they got no forwards. Hundreds of people
came out I had a good time.
