| Garth,
Leighton and Jody held nothing back for this chapter. The bamboo
tents, raised dancefloor and DJ stage were constructed on site
over 3 days prior to the event. Among other delicacies like shrimp
rundown, 80 pounds of smoked marlin were ordered to soak up the
premium liquor being served at the bar. All night means all night
(bottles
of Henessey were being handed out to the VIP at the party, not
to mention Hypnotiq and Moet).
Special Delivery
was the first party for 2002's end of year celebrations. Everybody,
not just the ladies, came out in their finest gear. Christmas
is the best holiday for going all out with your party dress because
there are so many people you haven't seen in so long - namely
members of the opposite sex who always seem to get that much hotter
after being away at school, or work, or wherever for an extended
period of time - you know what I'm talking about... "Mogel
pon yuh one time man..." Ah yes.. Christmastime. Trus'
mi... I BUSH!
Back to the
party... Richie D and Babiface flew in well prepared. Record boxes
numbering in the double digits were brought in solely for this
event. Jazzy T and Marvin graced the tables as well. All played
pumped sets save for an extended Eighties mix at 1am... who did
the dirty? I'm not telling, Richie ; )
Celebrities
were out in droves at Special Delivery. Many were here for Hot
Shots - specifically Bryce
Wilson & the Vibe Weekend crew, Sean Paul's Atlantic Family
and the Gimme Di Light stars Teneisha, Taz and Ponytail. A bunch
of politicians were there and it was a perfect place to conduct
an informal business meeting if need be.
It was a night
of high spirits and there was a good vibe in the crowd. The bar
was stocked, the food tables were stocked, the dancefloor was
stocked but the crowd was not overpowering... comfortable enough
to find your friends when you needed them and easy enough to get
lost if you wanted to. It was chill for some but a crazy party
for others... a perfect blend of vibes.
Chalk another
success up for High Society. If anything was lacking at any one
time, it was made up for with something else. |
