Records Celebrates 25 years by Returning To It’s Roots
VP Records
is proud to announce the opening of its new office in Kingston,
Jamaica. This announcement comes on the verge of VP Records 25th
Anniversary in the United States.
In 1979, the
Chin family, owners of Randy's Records in Kingston, opened VP
Records in Jamaica, New York.
Now in 2004,
VP is returning to Kingston as the largest independent reggae
music label in the world. "Establishing
an office in Jamaica will allow for our partners in the music
and business communities to have greater accessibility to VP,"
said Randy Chin, VP's head of Marketing, "we
look forward to continuing our successful endeavors in bringing
Jamaican music and culture to the world." The
new office will be headed by Yolan Zanders who said "I'm
really excited to be part of the VP family. It's great that there
is an office in Jamaica, where reggae lives."
As VP Records
celebrates its 25th Anniversary, they will not be slowing down
their efforts to expose international audiences to reggae music.
For 2004, VP has a host of initiates including
a new partnership with global athletic brand PUMA
to support Jamaica's National Team.
The record
label will also be hosting an major concert event at the world
famous Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
In addition,
a 25th Anniversary box set will feature some of the greatest hits
in dancehall, roots, and lover's rock. Several other events are
currently in the works and will be announced in the near future.
After releasing
the much anticipated Elephant Man album "Good
to Go", reggae fans anxiously await
several other artists releases scheduled for 2004. Lady
Saw, Tanto Metro and Devonte, TOK, Tanya Stephens, Beres Hammond,
Sizzla, Sasha, and Sean Paul all have albums slated for
release throughout the year.
With all of
the events and releases planned for 2004, VP Records stays true
to their slogan…"Miles
Ahead in Reggae Music."
