| Why
are there less than 20 pics is your first question. No!
lie. I bet your first question was "Why
di rass dem keepin' Loaded in Negril?" then you asked
"..and why not in July?" Have no fear. Whaddat
has all the answers. The original date for Fully Loaded
2003 was July 27th. Sharon (Burke,
from Solid) was trying to get James Bond Beach. Fort Clarence has
decided against hosting any more stage shows as they are trying
to re-hash the family oriented beach venue. Besides, Sashi is
not keeping this year (don't ask me why, please) and big
brand name Fully Loaded in it's place at James Bond Beach would
have been perfect. The next thing I knew there was a change
of date and change of venue- to Wavs in Negril? I asked why as well,
but after giving it some thought, I agreed with it. Fully
Loaded has solidified it's status as a must-go annual
event, and no matter where it's held, it will get a good turnout.
On top of that, Solid hooked up with Appleton Rum
this year (as opposed to Guinness as usual) and secured it's place
amongst the Independence parties, officially. |

It wasn't the same as Fort Clarence... the vibe wasn't
as "Loaded" but it was close enough.
Why
only 20 pics, you wanna know now? Damn, I was
having such a good time, man! Nah... It was my first time
out of town since the accident (June 6). I was supposed
to emcee the show with Leftside, but decided against it
(with nuff prodding). I wasn't feeling very chipper quite
frankly.
BUT!
Fully
Loaded was the perfect kick-off for a slew of maddening
events that weekend. The Alliance
was there in full effect (Bounty, Wayne, Vybz, Ele, Predator,
Kip Rich, Doolas, Tafari),
Cam'ron and the Diplomats were there in all their
glory (yum yum Juelz Santana). Black
Chiney, One Love, Jabba, Leftside & Esco, Razz & Biggy-
I saw y'all. We got there really late, though. The traffic,
I'm tellin' you- it started at the round-a-bout about 2
or 3 miles from the venue, so I missed most of the DJs but
I heard they went on well.
I have
to give it up for Mr. Fully Loaded himself, TOOony
MATTERHOOooRN!
Matterhorn
caused a raucous inside Fully Loaded, fi real.
He was tearing down the place. The over 10,000-strong crowd
was loving every single second of it. One person in particular
was not however, and that person happened to be a local
Superintendant of Police. Now, I don't bun herb but
I heard that if Negril police catch you with a spliff dem
get wild pon yuh. So, imagine the Sup when Tony was going
on and on with his foul mouth and dubs on stage. After all,
as Sean-Paul is well aware of now after Sumfest, swearing
in public is WRONG WRONG WRONG. Against the law wrong
*snore* So, ANYWAY, the Sup took Matterhorn off stage and
Matterhorn went right back on stage and *note well* HE didn't
cuss no more. Instead he played dubs that cussed for him.
That didn't make any official happy. Including Sharon Burke.
She was looking out for him, and her event and understandably,
it was time for him to exit the stage. Matterhorn
had made his mark - good and proper.
There's
no doubt he had doubt that Tony Matterhorn renewed his title
as Mr. Fully Loaded. Anybody out there that says he believes
in his own hype too much fi GWEH! If Tony wasn't so hype
from the get-go he wouldn't be Matterhorn. Love goes
out. |

Cam'ron,
the Diplomats and Juelz Santana came up next. They tore down
the house with all the hits. "Oh Boy",
"Hey Ma" etc. etc.
I spoke to them, actually Cam'ron and Juelz, after their performance
and, well, let's just say that Cam'ron seemed like he's really
tired of the press in his face all the time. Juelz Santana,
on the other hand, was a real doll. Straight.
The
Alliance was up after. I could care less about the
bad reviews they are all getting for forming The Alliance. The
Alliance is a very strong union. Take a cue, I say. Start your
own shit and stop raggin'. See how Babycham and Beenie Man
link up? Same idea. YUP! Good to go. Of course Bounty, Elephant
Man, Wayne Marshall, Vybz Kartel, Kip Rich, Predator and Angel
Doolas mashed up the place. What did you expect? One likkle yute
name QT blessed the mic during the highlight and tore it down
too. Galaxy P was up in the hizzle and Leftside was too. Big up
Khaliweed for keeping the stage in order, dun know. REVO! Big
up all the Burkes, Sharon and Marlon in particular.
Fully Loaded cyaan dun! Memba
mi tell yuh.
Blesssss!
