Whaddat mean? "The Return of Elephant Man"?

Well, for those of you who didn't know, Ele was on one month-long tour for di wholla March into April. He returned on the 7th and celebrated using Fire Links' Hot Mondays as the platform for a massive party in his honour.

Now if you love Whaddat you would know that I am an avid supporter of Fire Links, the Fire Squad and Hot Mondays on Hagley Park Rd. I hadn't been there in a while (no, lie - I had gone the week before only to find that police had shut it down at 2 am on the dot, ten minutes before my arrival), so it was only fitting I show up for what I heard was going to be a welcome back party for Ele.

So we reached the venue minutes to one and the place was already cawk. Got inside and headed straight to the bar to order some Smirnoff Ice and a couple Heineken. One bredda ask me what I wanted, so I told him just what I was planning on ordering. Well, this guy go and full up one crate full a Heiney and Smirnoff Ice while I'm thinking - "What a darling! Nobody's ever bought me a crate before... but hold on, baby... me one cyaan drink off di wholla dem Heineken deh!" Start get worried... nuh wan' waste no liquor...

Ooook... turns out that Elephant Man, in all his Ele glory, had purchased an entire trailerload of liquor that was sitting outside the venue, to GIVE to the masses! I suppose I was getting a little ahead of myself there, for a minute, but YOW... Ele a di big man, straight. Not only is Hot Mondays free to get in anyway, but free liquor too? To anyone who want it? Geeeez!!

The Fire Squad and Rebel T took care of the juggling for the night and a slew of artists were in the house - Beenie Man and John Hype (soon busss - watch it), Lady Saw, Suku and Rumblood from Ward 21 (thanks, Rummy, for the pics), The Jammy's crew, General B, Kip Rich, Boom Dandemite, Macedon, Penny Irie, Tony Curtis, Auto Wayne, Nitty Kutchie, Delly Ranks, New Kidz, Anthony Cruz, Vybz Kartel, Danny English, Angel Doolas, Predator, Tony Matterhorn (and Toni Matterhorn, him wifey - check the never before seen pics), Razz & Biggy, Epidemic and Jack Sowah for Sowah Video *whew*

You know it's all about dancing nowadays, and trus' mi, as usual John Hype and the crew was dancing up a storm. You have to be a rocket scientist or John Hype himself to remember all the dances that mek up lately, but yuh dun know follow "Di Hype" and everyting will be alright.

I need to say to Ele - we missed you like cook food, breddrin... a party just ain't a party when you're not on the island. Come een like no matter weh yuh deh in Jamaica, your vibes just eminate (seriously, who agrees that a certain vibe lack when him nuh deh deh?).
